The shoreline is lit by moonlight and an abundance of stars, while a flock of seagulls flies silently home. They are in shade but you can still see that they are white. I like being clever with paint :o) I saw this moon as I drove home along the A12 towards Ipswich. The moon hung in a deep indigo sky surrounded by clouds that became transparent with the moonlight. I could hardly keep my eyes on the road and tried to memorise the sky and an escarpment that loomed in the dark. This painting also owes some debt to Claude Monet's "The Church at Varengeville" which depicts a headland near the sea.
